Junior High Weekly Update: Dec 11th-15th

Hello Everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend! I am still in need of progress reports to be signed and turned in, please check with your student if you haven’t seen one yet! Students will be receiving the last progress reports of the first semester when we return to school in January. Students are encouraged to work on any missing assignments over the break to improve their grades before report cards come out at the end of the semester (January 26th).
In English this week students will continue writing their NaNoWriMo novels. This is the final week of novel writing! The deadline for the novels is December 15th. Students will be lerning how to diagram sentences In Grammar and finish Lesson 7 in Vocab with a test on Thursday. In Life Science, students will finish Chapter 8 with The Battle of the Beaks lab which focuses on adaptations and take the test on Thursday. In art students will do an outdoor landscape sketch and then use watercolor to enhance the piece. In PE students have finished the unit of flag football and will begin the new unit on hockey. A parent has also volunteered to come in to the class twice a week and teach dance!
The class has earned their first popcorn party of the year by exhibiting good behavior and exemplifying the REACH goals as a group. The feature presentation will be “The Labrinyth” (PG). The popcorn party will take place from 10:00am-11:45am this Friday. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to share. I will provide caramel corn 🙂
