Junior High Weekly Update: Sept 18th-22nd

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed another beautiful weekend! Thank you to all of those who made it to Back to School Night last Thursday. The Parent Teacher Network hosted a table where parents could pick up “helping hand” that indicated an item on the teachers’ classroom supply wish list. If you would like to pick up a helping hand there are still some left in Ms. Mollett’s office.
In English this week students will start our poetry unit, with titles “We Alone”, “Mother to Son”, “Speech to the Young” and “What is Success”. All of these poems focus on the central theme of goal setting and explore different perspective on what it means to be “successful”. Students will continue to study types of nouns in Grammar and will wrap up lesson 2 in their Vocab books with a test on Thursday. In Life Science students will finish up Chapter 3 with a lab exploring the refraction of light and mixing of colors and the test on Thursday. In art students are working with a partner to build their own “geometrocity” using an aerial blueprint and 3-D geometric shapes. In PE students are enjoying the basketball unit.
