Junior High Weekly Update: Sept 25th-29th

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed another beautifully sunny weekend! The first round of monthly progress reports will be going home with students this week, along with a missing assignment report. The progress report needs to be signed and returned. Attached to the progress report will also be a parent teacher conference sign up sheet, for those families I haven’t met with yet. It is important that your student also attend the meeting as we will be talking about their NWEA testing results, grades, and talk about any improvements or support that your student can benefit from.
In English this week students will continue our poetry unit, with titles “The Lesson of the Moth”, which illustrates two very different philosophies on life, as well as “Willow and Ginkgo” and “A Loaf of Poetry”, which will introduce students to similes and metaphors. Students will wrap up their study of types of nouns in Grammar and will begin lesson 3 in their Vocab books. In Life Science students will begin Chapter 4 and learn all about cells and their organelles. In art students will be learning about the Hopi tribe kachina dolls and creating their own representations. In PE students will start the soccer unit.
